Create an illustrative Vision Simulation

A visual field map can show where vision has been affected, but interpreting that map may not be easy for someone who has never experienced visual field loss.

Vision Simulation turns your recorded visual field into something you can show.

Use your own photograph

Choose a photograph from your computer and Visual Field Tracker applies the areas recorded during your visual field test to the image.

Visual Field Tracker - Experimental Vision simulation

You can create a simulation using:

  • your left-eye visual field;
  • your right-eye visual field;
  • the overlapping result from both eyes.

Move the fixation point to define where you would be looking in the scene, then adjust the image position, zoom, strength and feathering of the effect.

This lets you explore how the recorded areas of visual field loss may influence the perception of an everyday scene.

Show others what visual field loss may mean

Visual field loss can be surprisingly difficult to explain.

A diagram containing points, degrees and visual field boundaries may be useful for understanding a test result, but it does not necessarily communicate what that result could mean while looking at another person, walking along a street or simply looking around a room.

Vision Simulation helps bridge that gap.

Sometimes showing someone is easier than explaining it.

The resulting image can be downloaded and shared with family or friends.

The photograph you select is processed directly in your browser and is not uploaded to Visual Field Tracker.

Downloaded simulations include Visual Field Tracker attribution and information identifying the image as a simulation.

Vision Simulation is an interpretation based on your recorded visual field. Human visual perception is complex, and the simulation cannot reproduce exactly how an individual person subjectively experiences vision.
