Few steps to perform a mapping session

Once you are comfortable and ready, the session itself consists of a simple repeated action:

Look at the centre. Move the test point. Mark where it disappears.

1. Keep looking at the red fixation point

A small red point appears in the centre of the screen.

Keep your gaze on this point throughout the test.

Do not follow the moving yellow point with your eyes.

2. Move the yellow test point

Use the Arrow Keys to move the yellow point around the screen.

One key press moves it by one step. Holding an arrow key lets it travel more quickly when you want to explore another area.

3. Mark where the point disappears

As you move the yellow point away from the centre, there may be locations where you can no longer perceive it while continuing to look at the red fixation point.

Press the Spacebar to mark the current position. **Note: when pressing the Spacebar, you will see a subtle animation, but the marked point will not be visible. To show the marked point you need to press the 'H' on the keyboard.

You can approach the same area from different directions and add or remove points as you explore its boundaries.

4. Explore as much as you need

There is no requirement to fill every available position on the screen.

You decide how extensively you want to explore the visual field during a session.

Press H whenever you want to show or hide the points you have already recorded.

5. Finish the eye

When you are satisfied with the area you have explored, press D and confirm that you have finished testing the current eye.

You can then continue with the other eye.
